Brink of Death

Kez is ship's cook on a stolen ship crewed by pirates. The pirates are on the run from the corrupt Ascendancy government, and they've just picked up two new passengers: 'unicorn' people, aliens also fleeing for their lives.

On a dangerous, unexplored planet, Kez and the alien Seely are separated from their crewmates after an earthquake. Things don't look good for their survival: with half-broken equipment and battered bodies, they struggle to hold out, lost in caves deep in the mountains, trying not to lose hope...
