Bhismirr is a young caravan-guard from the desert country. He has everything in life that he wants: steady employment, enough money for booze, a lover who he thinks will be with him forever. But his whole world is turned upside down when his lover abandons him in an unfamiliar city with only the clothes on his back. Desperately, Bhismirr turns to selling his body for coin, only to find himself plying his wares to men from a rival country, a people who long ago once enslaved his people...
